Our mission
To advance education in Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics (STEAM) among youth and underserved communities through hands-on experiences, mentorship, workshops, competitions, and community outreach.
Why we exist
Robotics is one of the most powerful ways to teach young people how to think — how to break a hard problem into pieces, design a solution, build it, test it, and improve it. But the cost of equipment, competition fees, and travel puts that experience out of reach for many families. We exist to close that gap.
We sponsor and mentor student-led robotics teams in the San Francisco Bay Area, covering the costs that would otherwise keep a talented kid on the sidelines. Around that, we run STEAM workshops and community outreach so that curiosity has somewhere to go, no matter a family's budget.
What we believe
Access for all
Sliding-scale fees and full scholarships ensure that cost is never the reason a child can't participate. We prioritize students from underserved and underrepresented communities.
Community over competition
Winning is fun, but the point is bigger. Every team we support takes on a community-focused engineering project, connecting technical skill to real needs in their own neighborhood.
Learning by building
Students don't just read about engineering — they design in CAD, fabricate parts, wire electronics, write code, and iterate under real competition pressure. That full cycle is where the deepest learning happens.
How we're governed
Elevate Youth STEAM Institute is governed by a volunteer Board of Directors and operates without members, under the California Nonprofit Public Benefit Corporation Law. The organization is committed to transparency, sound financial stewardship, and the responsible use of every contribution.
